Trisomy 18 survey

11 March 2022

The Fetal Medicine Team in Liverpool Women’s Hospital are exploring counselling and care provided for women whose fetuses have diagnosed Trisomy 18.

Trisomy 18 is the second most common aneuploidy and has a poor prognosis. However, there is no specific guidance for antenatal counselling. For most babies born alive, care is palliative. Trisomy 18 is often described as a lethal condition, however there are published reports of infants surviving past their first year of life and debate on whether to offer interventions which may be raised by patients.

We would be very grateful for your views and experiences. Please see below a link to a short anonymous survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Please leave out any identifying information related to cases.
