Group B Strep Awareness Week

8–14 July 2025

Led by charity Group B Strep Support, Group B Strep Awareness Week (8–14 July 2025) is a dedicated week to raise awareness of group B Strep (GBS).

GBS is the most common cause of serious, often preventable, infection in newborn babies in the UK.

Sadly, group B Strep testing and information is not routinely offered to expectant parents in the UK. This awareness campaign aims to reach those parents yet to hear the words ‘group B Strep’, so they can take steps to keep their baby safe.
