Despite FGM being illegal in the UK there were 5,395 individual women and girls who had an attendance where FGM was identified in the period April 2020 to March 2021 and these are just the known cases (NHS Digital July 2021). This conference looks at prevention, safeguarding, meeting the national reporting requirements, and improving services for survivors of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Through national updates, extended sessions and case studies the conference will look at your obligations with regard to reporting FGM, prevention and safeguarding those at risk of FGM, and providing effective services for survivors of FGM.
