Professor Tim Draycott

It is with extreme sadness that BMFMS learns of the death of Professor Tim Draycott, friend and supporter of the society. Tim was a pioneer of obstetrics and safe maternity care. His passion for education has led to safer deliveries for mothers and babies. He trained so many doctors through PROMPT and inspired so many more. Tim changed the management of shoulder dystocia, particularly regarding skills and drills training. Tim’s legacy will live on in his inspiring team in Bristol and the Southwest who will continue to work tirelessly in his honour. Tim was a keen supporter of BMFMS and was due to speak at the conference in March 2026. We are very grateful that his team will present on his behalf and continue to champion his work. Our thoughts go out to Tim’s family, friends and colleagues. He will be much missed.
