BMFMS becomes a NIHR non-commercial Partner
The society has today heard that we have been successful in obtaining NIHR non-commercial Partner status. This means
that appropriate research studies funded through the BMFMS’s bursary system will automatically be eligible for NIHR
Clinical Research Network (CRN) support.
This will entitle such studies to:
• Use the NIHR Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permissions (NIHR CSP) which is accessed via the Integrated
Research Application System (IRAS)
• Access NHS support via the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
To be eligible for NIHR CRN support the research studies we fund must also meet the standard study eligibility criteria,
namely that they:
• Require NHS Research Ethics Committee approval and NHS permission
• Are discrete structured research projects with an appropriate study protocol
• Are of clear value to the NHS
• Involve NHS patients, staff, premises, facilities or resources
