Fetal Medicine CSG

This CSG is currently sponsored by the BMFMS

The RCOG Fetal Medicine CSG was established in 2009 to increase the amount of Fetal Medicine
research carried out in the UK. Although ~4% of all babies have some sort of fetal
abnormality only a small proportion of pregnancy research resources are dedicated to this
area of medicine.

The aims of the of the Fetal Medicine CSG are:
(1) Discuss, appraise and triage new clinical research ideas
(2) Provide RCOG and BMFMS support to those ideas that identify a knowledge deficit and
are achievable
(3) Improve fetal medicine collaboration nationally and increase participation in clinical
research in this area

Dr Aris Papageorghiou has recently been appointed as chair of the fetal medicine CSG. The CSG has 27 clinical advisers and 8 executive members. Meetings are held every 3-4 months with a lot of work being done using teleconferencing.

For specific inquiries on the fetal medicine CSG you can contact Dr Aris Papageorghiou via apapageo@sgul.ac.uk

The next Fetal CSG meeting will be advertised shortly.

If anyone has ideas for studies to be discussed please forward a one page outline to Dr Papageorghiou so a more detailed agenda can be circulated before the meeting. If you can't attend the meeting, send the outline anyway and it will be presented for you.
