UK CPD
Participation is mandatory for all those practising obstetrics and gynaecology or its sub-specialties in a career grade post in the UK, unless arrangements have been made with other professional bodies and these are notified to the RCOG.
Revalidation has been talked about for almost a decade and in the UK, medical revalidation will consist of two components: relicensure and recertification. The recertification component will be introduced piece meal and will be based on three components: annual enhanced appraisal; multi-source feedback (peers and patients); and confirmation that the doctor has met the requirements of their CPD programme. The responsibility for the first two components will of course rest with the employer /Responsible Officer but the CPD requirements will fall within the remit of the RCOG.
The BMFMS has appointed Gerald Mason as CPD representative. He will sit on the BMFMS committee and represent the BMFMS at the RCOG and in relevant consultations on CPD related matters.
